If you are a nurse who works in a specialized cardiology department do not buy this. Not worth it. I was looking for more specialized information this is not at all its all stuff you can find in your medical-surgical text book.
Great book learned alot
As always, the books in this series are the informative and entertaining.
My wife has worked for quite a few years now as a nurse aide and EKG monitor tech, and we recently purchased these two books for her use in refreshing her skills in EKG and cardiovascular interpretations:EKG's for Nursing Demystified (Demystified Nursing)Cardiovascular Nursing DemystifiedThe style of these books reminds me of the 'Complete Dummies Guide to ...' series of books, which in fact are terrific books on a great variety of topics, making them readable and fun to learn.She picked these books out at our local bricks-and-mortar bookstore before we ordered them from Amazon (sorry B&N but we saved about twenty bucks in buying them here). What she liked about them was how they give a great deal of background information in understanding EKG and cardiovascular techniques, plenty of illustrations with clear explanations in how EKG traces are interpreted, and they include practice questions at the end of each chapter to test your knowledge.It looks like these books are part of a new series from this publisher, and if the other books are as useful as these two, then they are well worthwhile for healthcare workers or students preparing for a career in the field.
This think this book is rather poorly written-- I was surprised to see that there were two editors listed.The text describes physical landmarks that aren't included in the accompanying illustrations.The EKG time-based paper grid is described in the text, but the wave tracing illustrations don't show the grid."Patient Education" examples used professional jargon instead of everyday language."Practitioner" is used throughout. I understand that some (or many) diagnosticians and prescribers aren't physicians. Still, aren't all surgical practitioners surgeons?There were occasional sentences that weren't sentences.There's much to be learned from this book, but I quickly found the experience annoying, and took it back to the library.
This book is fantastic! I used it to study for my cardiac exam and it was more useful then the required book for the course. I love how the topics are broken down. The presentation makes it easy to study.
