The whole crew.... Wonderful Mia, Teddy Bear Ted, Screaming Beth (in Ted's head... does he get rid of her) Cid our favorite mate for Mia and Ted, and of course Lazar is helping out still. Oh to have all the help that Mia does... well, she earns every one of them with her life style. A old amusement Park, that has over the years, enjoy success and failure, what a great place to see what haunts are around. Boy oh boy are there some good haunts there. Mike and Burt are assisting and of course Audrey is around as well. All the birdmen make an appearance in this story as well as some from down under if you get my drift and some new ones as well, all ready to help Mia fight the battle that has come upon them, and it takes all of the above to keep Mia settled down and resting as she is expecting not one but two babies! Even her sons, Brian and Varden try to help out their mom.... wow and does she need it this time. With all the twist and turns, good and evil, laughter and sad times the story continues on. So much fun to read them in order or by themselves. New people you are going to hate, and laugh at, old ones that resurface, why oh why can't Bev and Gerald stay put! What evil they bring into the story line..... they will never give up. Follow them all as they try to rid the amusement park of the evil and haunts that lie within the area... rides start and stop by themselves, people are found dead on them, did they committee suicide? All of them? How do the witches get control.... and what about the lost children? So much adventure in one story that I am going to have to re read it as I am sure I miss some of the story. Just when you think Mia has it under control... her house and barn get blown up, gotta read to find out who did it, Will they rebuild, will they move, will the ole gang still stay together...... better get reading!

I'm sure there was a collective sigh of relief when this latest Haunted Series Book by Ms Aaron was released. I read it once, waited a week and read it again. Following book 25, Daughter or Nyx, Ms Aaron significantly lightens the mood in Sideshow. As with all her books, the main characters have plenty going on with investigations and some personal issues that keep them well occupied. But, the book is aptly named as Sideshow and if Mia eating plums with a yeti does not make you smile, nothing will. The relationships of the main characters continue to evolve in a way that is satisfying. At the same time, the reader is offered a glimpse of possible future conflicts and teased with the introduction of other characters. After 26 books it is remarkable how fresh each new story seems. Thankfully, the issue of Ted's residual effects from Beth's hex seems to have been resolved in this book, and it is with hopes that Mia will no longer need to reassure him ad nauseam of her affections. Finishing the most current book is both happy and sad - to have had more time spent with this amazing cast of characters, yet saying good-bye until the diligent and creative Ms Aaron will once again open them up to us. Looking forward to book 27.

Like most of my reviews for this book series, it's pretty much what you'd come to expect from the author and the Haunted series in general. One of the bigger plot points in the books really feels like it was just recycled from a previous book. It was an intresting concept and it was done in a way so it wasn't like it was just directly ripping off a previous plot device, but it's still there and as soon as you read it, you'll think of the previous plot device from that past book. And while I say this every time, one of my other longstanding complaints is still painfully evident, which is almost every other chapter, some character needs to go on a tangent about how important Mia is, or how much they love her, or some sort of unrequited feelings or something. You know, I get it, this is like a paranormal romance adventure kind of books. I've accepted that aspect of the series awhile ago, it just feels like the focus has and will most likely be on Mia. And I understand that, she's a main character and core to the story telling. I just don't understand why the whole romance aspect can't shift more often to focus on other characters. In the Haunted series, you'll occasionally have some sort of romance for other characters, but it is almost always very brief and fleeting. It doesn't feel like it's ever explored with the amount those characters deserve. With the Cid Garrot PI series, this is explored a little deeper since the books clearly focus on Cid.There's also a couple temper tantrums from characters that don't really feel like it fits those characters well. I mean, yes, a lot of the Peeps crew are immature, they like comics, cartoons, videos and stuff like that. But some of their outbursts felt outright childish at times.Besides that, the beta reader and the editor needs to proof read a little closer. There was some pretty obvious mistakes in the book. I'm not talking about spelling errors, I don't really care about those. I mean like, dialog that was swtiched around or messed up in some way where I had to re-read it a few times and then reconstruct what I thought the author had actually intended to convey. There's a lot going on in this book and it's broken up in to like three acts, two of them being smaller ones and then the one being the major one. They all feel kind of rushed, but the one at the end, the one I found the most intresting part of the book was painfully short and felt like that one itself should have been center stage. If you like the other books, you'll like this one.

Sideshow is a another excellent addition to Alexie Aaron's Haunted Series. I love seeing each of our characters continue to grow and interact with each other in not just good times, but also when crazy sh!t starts to happen. I was taken by surprise by certain characters' thoughts/actions towards Mia, and there were great plot twists/resolutions that wove in and out of the storyline. I am impressed with Mia in that even though there are others who are out to harm her, she still has the grace to not assume the worst in everyone, and to look deeper for understanding- Mia's maturity continues in Sideshow. Of course since I am a huge Mia/Ted (Med? Tia?) "shipper" I also loved that Alexie took a deep dive with these two and their relationship ups and downs. This is one of my favorite books of the series so far, and I definitely look forward to the next entry. Keep gifting us with books that have this type of depth, Alexie!
