I've been coloring as an adult since the 1980s, starting with some of the early Dover coloring books and colored pencils. It seems to have become a "thing" now, and I'm thrilled with the new material on the market. But you really can't beat Dover in terms of design and price.This recent release by Dover is a prime example of the "new" Dover style, appealing more to adults. Marty Noble has been designing books for Dover for a LONG time (I know I had some of his books in the early- to mid-1990s), and his work is always excellent.The designs here are influenced by India, Africa, and the Middle East: lots of paisleys, peacocks, stylized butterflies and flowers. The designs are printed on one side only on decent quality paper, and each page is perforated to make removal easier. Bear in mind that most markers (especially alcohol markers, like Spectrum Noir, Bic Mark-Its, etc.) will bleed through, so if you're coloring in the book, be sure to put a sheet of scratch paper behind your design so you won't inadvertently ruin the next page. I'm working on a design at the moment with Bic Mark-Its, and I'm noticing just a hint of feathering (color spreading outside the line), not too bad, but enough that you'll want to use a light touch with your markers.Most of these designs are highly detailed with lots of tiny "bits" to color, so if you're intimidated by that, Magnificent Mehndi Designs may not be the best choice for you. But if you're interested in trying some more detailed coloring, there are several designs that combine "wide open spaces" with high detail.I'm really enjoying this book more than I thought I would, and it's now one of my top 5 favorites. Great designs, great quality, hours of relaxing creativity.
I bought this because I liked the other Mehndi design book creative haven has out. When i got it i was very surprised. The images have alot of very small detail. If you cant see well or have trouble with tight spaces i would avoid this one. Other then that it is lovely
Great designs, fun to color. Variety of designs, some very complex. As with all Creative Haven books, pages are perforated for removal, designs printed on one side , great for markers.
I have gotten quite a few of the Creative Haven coloring books... they are great... The pages are perforated, one-sided, and fairly thick. Also every picture has a border so you don't have to color off the edge of the page.The lines in this book are smooth and the detail is perfect for gel pens or fairly narrow tipped markers. Pencils would work easily, too.
This is probably THE most enjoyable coloring book I've encountered. Unlike so many coloring books that have a few good designs and a whole bunch of "meh" pages, every page of this one is great. It's hard to pick the next one to color. When I've finished it, I'll probably order another one, because it's that pleasurable.
Another Creative Haven favorite. One sided pages, perforated, and good quality paper. The designs in this book are fun and seem to bring out a little more creativity in me because they are not what I usually color. It is a nice change to have some interesting and different designs.
using colored pencils, this coloring book has been a wonderful experience. I've never liked coloring books, I must admit, but when I gifted it to my mom, she was very happy. She's been using it for a couple weeks now and it's fun to see the images come out black lines.
