About the Author
James Weller was born and raised in the Kansas City area. The midwest United States. A half a world away from West and Central Africa. A different culture and way of life. He graduated Bonner Springs High School in 1977. He then worked 16 years with United Parcel Service. He moved on to other business and charitable ventures. In 2008 he left for Sierra Leone, West Africa to become the General Manager for Taakor Tropical Hardwood Ltd. He spent two years there as well as another two more in neighboring Liberia. He then worked three years Cameroon, Central Africa for SGSOC, a palm oil plantation. He visited several other African nations such as Nigeria, Ghana, and Togo. During his time in Africa, he documented many of his experiences and since returning to the United States has worked as a consultant and business advisor. His book, "Misadventures in West Africa Sierra Leone," tells of his two years living and working in the Timber Industry in Sierra Leone.

I read this book in an early draft and pleased to see it published. "Misadventures in West Africa" is a fascinating and informative collection of original stories based on the author's experiences in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The author provides a valuable look at the cultures and people in West Africa. I learned a great deal from this read. It is a must read for anyone interested in West Africa and, in particular, the nature of doing business in a very unique environment.
